Vision and Mission


Provide drop-in, appointment based as well as online Peer Mentoring support for all first year Kinesiology students, allowing students to successfully transition into University by integrating into the York community.


  • ┬áCultivate and refine Peer Mentor's consultation-specific communication to convey important information to students and make them feel welcome.
  • ┬áDevelop professional and transferable skills of both Peer Mentors and mentees through skill building activities and increasing awareness of campus resources.
  • Foster a sense of belonging in younger and older students, by providing opportunities to network and develop lasting friendships.
  • Facilitate personal development in Peer Mentors and mentees through cross-mentoring and guide toward a path of success as defined by their personal standards


  • Reach out to as many KINE students as possible and help in a comfortable and informative setting
  • Help students enhance their self-confidence by helping them realize their own potential
  • Develop a continuing cycle of students who find this experience valuable, rewarding and effective both as Peer Mentors and Mentees
  • Inspire and encourage students to contribute to KAHSSO and other campus-based communities and enhance the sense of community within York
