Provide drop-in, appointment based as well as online Peer Mentoring support for all first year Kinesiology students, allowing students to successfully transition into University by integrating into the York community.
Cultivate and refine Peer Mentor's consultation-specific communication to convey important information to students and make them feel welcome.
Develop professional and transferable skills of both Peer Mentors and mentees through skill building activities and increasing awareness of campus resources.
Foster a sense of belonging in younger and older students, by providing opportunities to network and develop lasting friendships.
Facilitate personal development in Peer Mentors and mentees through cross-mentoring and guide toward a path of success as defined by their personal standards
- Reach out to as many KINE students as possible and help in a comfortable and informative setting
- Help students enhance their self-confidence by helping them realize their own potential
- Develop a continuing cycle of students who find this experience valuable, rewarding and effective both as Peer Mentors and Mentees
- Inspire and encourage students to contribute to KAHSSO and other campus-based communities and enhance the sense of community within York
